1890's
In the 1890’s, corseting increased immensely, creating a thinner figure. They also had a tight bodice. The skirt had a few different styles throughout the 90’s. One was an A-line silhouette and the other was a trumpet shaped skirt, which was tight through the hips and loose past the knee.
A-line
This dress is an example of an A-line Silhouette with leg of mutton sleeves (“puffy sleeves”).
Trumpet Skirt
These dresses are examples of a slight trumpet skirt, also with leg of mutton sleeves.
