1870's

In the 1970’s, the bustle emerged, which supported intricate draping over the rear of the dress.  This style led women to wear an underskirt with many frills and pleats.

Day Dress

The day dresses displayed this fashion, as well as narrow sleeves, which flared somewhat at the wrist.

The velvet ribbon choker to the right is an example of one they would wear in the 1870's

Like in the 1950’s, the sleeves were worn sometimes off the shoulder for evening dressed. In addition to that, short gloves and velvet ribbons worn tightly around the neck became popular.
